Sixth grade science students will have a unit about Earth’s resources. The unit is an extension of a previous unit on energy where students were introduced to renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. Students will learn more about renewable and nonrenewable resources, the costs and benefits of nonrenewable and renewable energy, how renewable energy sources are harvested to create energy, and the purpose of major energy conservation agencies. Students will work collaboratively throughout this unit to create a Vine, construct renewable energy models, and create their own conservation energy agency. This unit relies heavily on project based learning and 21st century learning skills through critical thinking and problem solving, creativity, and collaboration.
